A dark, clinical subgenre of drum and bass from the mid-1990s that swapped jungle's ragga warmth for hard synthetic basslines, sci-fi atmospheres and stripped, mechanical drum programming. Pioneered by Ed Rush, Optical, Dom & Roland and the No U-Turn label; the direct ancestor of #neurofunk.
